Many married couples ask themselves how to conceive a boy or a girl and do sex positions matter? People have been trying to figure this out for a very long time, but most renowned specialists in the field say that love positions cannot influence the gender of your baby. However, there are still many things medicine does not know in this area. Gender selection is a huge topic not only in the medical circles but is turning into an industry. The ethics of some of the techniques are quite controversial. He believed that certain positions gave an advantage to the sperm carrying the chromosome of a particular gender.

If you desperately want a baby girl, you might be willing to do anything to make it happen. Well, when it comes to sex positions purported to increase the odds of conceiving a female, it's actually as tame as it gets. According to Dr. Landrum Shettles , who has used his trademark "Shettles method" to give couples what he claims is a 75 percent chance of having a child of the desired sex , there are three surprisingly simple positions — along with one major albeit unverified disclaimer — to aid in getting a girl. Although there is no scientific evidence to confirm Shettles's theory, the idea behind all of the recommended positions is shallow penetration. The Y-chromosome sperm responsible for producing boys swim faster but don't live as long and are generally weaker than the X-chromosome sperm that produce girls. These girl sperm, while slow, are resilient and can survive in harsher environments for up to five days.
If you've always dreamed of having a little girl or a little boy, it can be tough to let go of the fantasy. Sure, the most important thing is that your baby is born healthy, but you're only human. So is it really so outrageous that some people will try just about anything to influence the gender of their child? Unfortunately, there's not much you can do that doesn't involve thousands of dollars of medical procedures when it comes down to it Even if technically the only "proof" of their effectiveness came from old wives' tales? Landrum Shettles has been considered an authority on, well, choosing the sex of your baby for over 25 years, according to Popsugar. Following his landmark "Shettles method," Dr. Shettles claimed, would give parents-to-be a 75 percent chance of "having a child of the desired sex. However, because there are still those who swear his method works, this info is worth sharing as a hey, why not? Anyway, getting back to Shettles and his theories , his idea was that "boy sperm" sperm carrying a Y chromosome is weaker, smaller and faster than girl sperm sperm carrying an X chromosome , and, as such, sex positions allowing for deep penetration give boy sperm a better chance of making it to the egg before the girl sperm.
Think that making love standing up will give you a boy? Think again. My wife and I are trying to have a baby girl, since we already have a son. Are there any special lovemaking positions that might increase our chances? People have been trying to figure this one out for centuries, "but there are really no lovemaking positions that can influence the gender of your baby," says Jeffrey Steinberg, MD, director of the gender selection program at the Fertility Institutes in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, we're still at the whim of Mother Nature when it comes to the sex of our babies, despite the many fab folklore methods: Eat meat and salty food to get a boy; splurge on desserts to get a girl. Make love standing up or when there's a quarter moon if you want a son, but stick to the missionary position and make love during a full moon for a daughter. You can also check out a year-old Chinese conception chart that tells women which dates will result in boy or girl conceptions, based on the mother's age and the month of conception. But there's no scientific evidence that any of this works. Nonetheless, gender selection is big business.
